About
Karleng Lim is an interdisciplinary artist interested in exploring and addressing the relationship between meaning-making and power relations through an interdisciplinary, values-based lens centred on the intersection of our capitalist consumer culture within a multispecies world. She interrogates the socio-cultural and political landscapes that emerge from these relationships by carrying out subversive and process-led methodologies that include photography, video, installation, performative, and sculptural works to create often humorous forms and spaces that invite contemplation of the increasing polarities of modern life and the impacts of how we view our place in the world. Her research and practice currently centre on engaging new ideas around the ecological movement and reconsidering the relationship with the nonhuman world around us.
Karleng was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and now lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. She recently completed the Master of Contemporary Art program at the Victorian College of the Arts, University of Melbourne, and has a background in design and architecture.
